Spend this morning at leisure. Prior to embarkation, enjoy a highlight tour of Panama City en route to the ship.

Darien Jungle, Panama     October 17, 2010

Visit a remote Emberá village tucked away on the coast of the Darién Jungle. The Emberá people open their homes and hearts to welcome Cruise West friends. Dance and laugh with them, take away cherished lifetime memories.

Isla Coiba, Panama     October 18, 2010

Discover Coiba National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site consisting of 38 islands. It harbors 147 species of birds and abundant sea life, making it one of the top snorkeling locations in the world. Among exploration options, go snorkeling and kayaking at Granito de Oro Island, Coiba Island or Rancheria Island. Visit the prison ruins at Coiba Island – Panama’s version of Devil’s Island. Take a guided nature walk at the south end of Coiba, relatively untouched by humans.

Golfo Dulce, Costa Rica     October 19, 2010

Take a guided tour through the beautiful gardens at Casa Orquideas ("Orchid House”). A private botanical garden, it is cultivated by long-time local residents, who have amassed an amazing collection of tropical fruit trees, bromeliads, cycads, palms, heliconias, ornamental plants and more than 100 varieties of orchids. See, smell, and touch a wide variety of beautiful ornamental plants and taste some unusual fruits. This afternoon take a walk in search of wildlife. Look for toucans, monkeys and other jungle dwellers. Or enjoy a quiet afternoon on your own, relaxing on the ship’s Sun Deck.

Cocos Island, Costa Rica     October 21, 2010

Arrive at Cocos Island for two days of snorkeling, nature walks and bird-watching in this waterfall-draped UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located 300 miles off the Costa Rican coast, Cocos Island was discovered in 1526 and became a popular stopover for pirates and whalers. Go ashore at Chatham Bay to snorkel in turquoise waters favored by world-famous Jacques Cousteau. View sea turtles, rays, dolphins, hammerhead sharks and a vast array of tropical fish. Cocos Island boasts the world’s largest population of hammerhead sharks. Or explore these waters by kayak or simply relax on pristine Chatham Beach. Today explore Wafer Bay on Cocos Island. Opt for a guided nature walk, Zodiac tour to visit the island’s caverns, bird watching, or snorkeling. Bird life here is amazing – 90 species abound, including the Cocos Flycatcher, Cocos Cuckoo and Cocos Finch. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Manta, Ecuador     October 24, 2010
This morning enjoy a tour of Manta, Ecuador’s major port along its central coast. Visit the Archaeological Museum of Banco Central to see an exhibit on the culture of Manta. Continue to the village of Montecristi, where the “Panama hat” originated. Montecristi continues to be renowned for its high-quality hats, wickerwork, colonial architecture and handicraft shops. Visit Montecristi’s Panama hat factory, central square and picturesque church.
