Erasmus! Who is Erasmus Darwin?

When you think of the Galapagos, Charles Darwin and his publication “On the Origin of Species” may come to mind. Charles Darwin visited the Galapagos in the 1830’s and published his controversial and insightful book in 1859. However, when you read his grandfather’s work above, you see that natural selection or evolution was a long standing train of thought in the family. Erasmus passed away almost seven years before Charles was born.
