Humming Birds
51 species of hummingbirds live in Costa Rica’s jungles. The stunning variety of pollinating flowers make Costa Rica the hummingbird capitol of North America. Amazing, considering humming birds have no sense of smell. Their top speeds reach 60 miles per hour in dives and average 20-30 miles per hour. Their wings beat up to 80 times a second. While sleeping they go into a torpor or hibernation like state.
