Special Guest Lecturer

Kenneth Johnson , PhD
Kenneth S. Johnson is a geologist, naturalist, historian, and lecturer who travels widely, visiting over 60 countries and all 7 continents. Travels have been primarily for the study of geology, natural resources, environmental problems, and historical/cultural development of the areas visited. Special interests are in areas where glaciation, volcanism, and/or plate tectonics play an important role in geologic evolution, and then assessing how they impact human history and cultural development.

Dr. Kenneth Johnson has retired as Associate Director of the Oklahoma Geological Survey and Visiting Professor of Geology at The University of Oklahoma. He is a Senior Fellow of the Geological Society of America, and has published more than 250 articles, books, and abstracts. He now lectures on cruise ships that travel to many of the more interesting and exotic destinations, such as Alaska and the Inside Passage, and he relates his lectures to the cruise destinations. His non-technical talks on Alaska, British Columbia, and the Inside Passage are beautifully illustrated and well-suited for general audiences.

Join Professor Kenneth Johnson on our Alaska's Inside Passage cruise departing on August 14, 2009.
